I ask myself. Is there anything you could have done - gone outside with a bottle? Bottle-fed the baby? I know some fawns have been rescued by humans.

It’s recommended not to touch fawns, lest they’ll be rejected by their mom. So you can do it once rejected. That wasn’t the case.

I know. But you could see the fawn was too weak to get up to the mother, that "nature" would take its course. Death.

Afterwards, everyone is wise. Have you ever approached a fawn? It would have to be impaired so much it cannot run away from you.

I know: 20/20 hindsight. About this fawn: it could not even get up to get milk, no matter how much it tried. I do not see how it could have run away.
